2012年有望走红的12款电动汽车

今年电动汽车是否能最终俘获消费者的芳心?以下列出12款可能让车迷们心动的电动车。

逆风狂奔

    许多人认为插电式混动汽车和全电动汽车不可能在短期内大范围流行起来。理由有很多:首先,油价近年来一直保持稳定,新的石油资源也得到了开采;另外,内燃机引擎变得越来越经济高效。此外,混动和电动汽车的销量也低于预期,而且2011年还有两家电动汽车公司破产倒闭。这一切很难说是什么好兆头。

    尽管如此,电动汽车的支持者们却仍然保持着乐观的态度,比如雷诺-日产公司(Renault-Nissan)的卡洛斯•高森。高森希望在2017年前销售出150万辆插电式混动轿车和纯电动汽车,为此他不惜血本。雷诺-日产公司已经投资了56亿美元用于科研以及电池和车辆的开发。

Fighting the headwinds

    Skeptics just can't shake their doubts that plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles will catch on anytime soon. They have a lot to be wary of: Gas prices have remained steady, new oil deposits are being exploited, and internal combustion engines are becoming more efficient. Sales have also been slower than expected, and two EV companies went bankrupt in 2011. Hardly auspicious.

    Despite all that, EV advocates like Renault-Nissan's Carlos Ghosn remain cheerfully optimistic. Ghosn wants to be selling 1.5 million plug-ins and pure EVs by 2017. He's got a lot of skin in the game. Renault-Nissan has invested $5.6 billion in research, batteries, and vehicle development.

    Nissan's all-electric Leaf was a pioneer in 2011, but it's getting lots of competition in 2012. Having locked their plans several years ago, automakers -- including some high-profile ones -- will be introducing a remarkable assortment of EVs and plug-ins this year. Buyers will have a choice in all-electric range from 15 miles to 300 miles, and prices from $22,000 to more than $100,000. Hopefully we won't need another spike in energy prices for them to catch on.

雪佛兰沃蓝达

Chevrolet Volt

    For the second time in the last two decades, General Motors experienced first-hand the perils of EV leadership. Back in the '90s, it was saddled with the EV-1. This time around, it's the Volt plug-in. Sales have lagged forecasts, and the federal government launched an investigation into the danger of battery fires after accidents. Even Michigan-born Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney dissed the Volt, calling it "an idea whose time has not yet come." Undeterred, CEO Dan Akerson declared GM would buy back cars from unhappy owners and ordered a boost in production to 60,000 from less than 10,000. 2012 will be a critical year for Volt.

Nissan Leaf

    Nissan's all-electric Leaf fared somewhat better than the Volt in its first year on the market. Sales through November totaled 8,720, even though drivers found its range disappointing. Launched with the prospect of traveling 100 miles on a single charge, the Leaf ran closer to the low 70s, especially when power-burning accessories like the air conditioner were turned on. Meanwhile, plug-in recharge stations were few and far between. In 2012, the Leaf will have to build on its first-year results and start to make the transition from early adopters to mainstream users.


特斯拉Model S

Tesla Model S

    The California startup makes the leap from novelty sports car assembler to mass-production in 2012 with the introduction of the all-electric Model S. All-new cars are hard to launch for any automaker, and Tesla will be closely watched for hiccups. Tesla says it has sold out production for a year with more than 7,000 orders. Those buyers will be expecting a lot. Tesla promises a range of 160 miles for the base $57,400 Model S, and up to 300 miles for its top-of-the-line, $92,400 version.


菲斯科Karma

Fisker Karma

    You haven't seen one on the road yet, but Automotive News reports that 225 of the $102,000 plug-in Karmas have arrived at dealers, and another 1,200 are in the pipeline. The brainchild of former BMW designer Henrik Fisker, the extravagantly-styled Karma gets about 30 miles on a plug-in charge. Fisker has big plans. He's received a $529 million U.S. government loan guarantee and taken over an old GM plant in Wilmington, Del. where he is building 25 cars a day. He's hired two veteran Detroit Three executives, former Chrysler vice-chairman Tom La Sorda and Ford's Richard Beattie. But with a six-figure price tag, the Karma could be a tough sell in a rocky economy.


奔驰Smart Fortwo电动车

Smart Fortwo Electric Drive

    Struggling Smart is hoping to get a charge from a battery-powered model that is designed for 87 miles per charge. Acceleration, though, remains dangerously slow: zero to 60 miles per hour in 13 seconds with a leisurely top speed of 75 mph. The Fortwo ED goes on the market in September at the bargain-basement price of $22,000. If owner Daimler can turn Smart around, the Fortwo Electric Drive may turn out to have been its saving grace.


Scion iQ电动车

Scion iQ EV

    The gasoline-powered iQ pictured above isn't even on the market yet, and here comes the one that runs on kilowatts. Toyota has three electrics and plug-ins in the pipeline, of which Scion's EV is the smallest and least-publicized. Another battery-powered minicar, the electrically driven iQ goes into limited production: Just 600 cars will be built, with 400 staying in Japan, 100 going to Europe, and 100 coming to the U.S., where they will be marketed solely to fleet and car-sharing programs. The iQ's range is estimated at 50 miles.


丰田RAV 4电动版

Toyota RAV 4 EV

    Toyota's higher-profile EV is the electrified version of its popular RAV 4 crossover. The first product of Toyota's $50 million investment in, and joint development deal with Tesla, the electric RAV will be juiced by a 660-lb. Tesla battery pack using a unique lithium-ion chemistry. Relatively quick for an EV, the RAV 4 promises a zero-to-60 mph time of 9.3 seconds and a range of 100 miles. Toyota anticipates "robust public interest" in the RAV 4 EV.

Toyota Prius Plug-in

    One of the most interesting rivalries in the EV wars is Prius vs. Volt. The unheralded plug-in version of the redoubtable Prius doesn't go as far on a charge as a Volt (15 miles vs. 40), but otherwise it sets some pretty high standards. One is recharge time: a quick three hours on household current vs. up to 10 hours for the Volt. Then there's efficiency while running on gasoline power: 49 mpg vs. a reported 33 mpg for the Volt. Finally, there is price: $32,760 for the Prius Plug-in vs. $39,995 for the Volt base model. With numbers like those, Prius sales could charge well ahead of the Volt.


福特福克斯电动版

Ford Focus Electric

    Another head-to-head competition pits the Focus Electric against the Leaf. Both cars claim similar all-electric ranges of 100 miles, but the Focus has a faster recharge time, according to Ford, and more adaptability to swings in temperature. Leaf wins on price, however, coming in nearly $4,000 less than the Focus Electric's $39,995 base price. Ford is taking it easy the first year out: It plans only limited production, with availability restricted to New York, New Jersey, and California.

    Honda's EV entry buzzes into California and Oregon markets in about six months. Its mileage is impressive: 123 miles per charge in city driving. Honda has priced the subcompact hatchback at $36,665, with a lease offered at $399 a month. Like Ford, Honda is dipping its toe into the EV water slowly. It expects to place just 1,100 Fit EV's over the next three years.


三菱i电动车

    With a shrunken U.S. presence over the past few years, Mitsubishi hasn't found much visibility for the pint-sized all-electric i, which claims a range of 62 miles. Just four were sold in November, its first month on the market. Prices start at a very reasonable $27,770, but performance is less so. Tests at Popular Mechanics reported that 15 seconds -- an eternity in the car world -- are required to reach 60 mph.


雷诺Fluence Z.E.

Renault Fluence Z.E.

    You won't see it in U.S. showrooms anytime soon, but a lot of attention will be focused on Renault's Fluence, the first production vehicle to use battery-switching technology developed by Better Place, a Silicon Valley startup. The all-electric Fluence can be topped off at battery-charging stations around town, but when longer trips don't permit extended recharging times, it can be juiced up by swapping out its depleted battery pack for a charged one in a matter of minutes at a specially designed refueling station. The car is priced at about $35,000, and the batteries, leased separately, cost some $300/mo. After tests in taxi fleets in Tokyo and Israel, Renault is taking Fluence to Australia in 2012.
